At The Code Zone, we have a variety of unique online and in-person coding clubs for all ages to enjoy. Today, we want to highlight our Game Dev Club which focuses on learning the fundamentals of coding in Game Development.
At The Code Zone, we have a variety of unique online and in-person coding clubs for all ages to enjoy. Today, we want to highlight our Game Dev Club which focuses on learning the fundamentals of coding in Game Development.
Game Dev Club is a fun, group-based online club where children get access to fully working game and are taught how to modify and add code to make the games their own.
Our club was made by parents who wanted to share their coding and computer skills with kids in a fun and accessible way and has now grown nationally with mentors based all over the UK - from Tom down in Cambridge at The Code Zone HQ to Ant all the way up in Scotland!
With hacks, mods, boosts and Game Jams, there is so much exciting content to interact with for all ages and abilities. We offer 'Hackers' for our younger members aged 6 to 10 to start with block based coding and 'Modders'; for coders 10 and up who are ready to get stuck into python.
Both 'Hackers' and 'Modders' have their own individual levelling system to help our members get the most fun out of their code whilst still learning something new every week. We focus on learning practical, life-long and creative coding skills, not just covering topics and theory.
We want all our members to be independent coders and problem solvers who can go on to use their coding abilities in all aspects of life. The Code Zone isn't just for those who want to become expert programmers, but for anyone looking to super charge and enhance their use of tech and stay ahead in this ever-evolving digital world.
All our members are unique so we give them the opportunity to learn at their own pace with the support of a cheerful community and their very own mentor. Not only are all our mentors DBS checked and Stem Certified - they are also gamers, coders and creators.
Whether your child wants a pokemon enthusiast like Nick, a retro gamer like Calum or a Minecraft whiz like Jaz; we have a variety of diverse mentors with amazing skills, interests and mentoring styles who are ready to befriend your child and take them through their coding journey. About The Code Zone
The Code Zone teaches children aged 6 to 16 to code by building their own games. Outside the UK that is the Game Dev Academy: self-paced, so a child works at whatever hour suits them in any time zone, with a background-checked, STEM-certified mentor answering by text and video message.
It started in Britain, where in 2026 it was the highest-placed coding club in Club Hub UK's Top 100 Children's Activity Providers, and in 2025 received the Autism Inclusion Award from the National Autistic Society, the UK's leading autism charity. More than a third of members are autistic or have ADHD, based on what parents tell us when they join.

The blog is in two halves. Guides are the evergreen explainers written by the mentors who teach the clubs, covering the questions parents actually ask: what comes after Scratch, how to support a coding-mad child when you cannot code yourself, and what works for autistic and ADHD children.
Club news is the other half, and it is where posts like this one live: game jams, Minecraft builds and weekly roundups, written up by whoever ran the session. Neither is marketing. If you want to know what the work actually looks like before you sign up to anything, club news is the more honest read of the two.
