Here at The Code Zone all of our mentors are really excited about the new Minecraft movie - some of us even ran to see it on the day it came out! We’ve had lots of fun chats about it with members in our clubs this week too.
Now that we’ve seen the film, we want to keep the fun going and by jumping into the game and exploring, building, and mining just like Steve! Did you know that it’s possible to play Minecraft and learn to code at the same time!? That’s what Minecraft Mod Worlds is all about…
What is Minecraft Mod Worlds?
Minecraft Mod Worlds is The Code Zone’s unique version of Minecraft. Once you’ve signed up for a membership with The Code Zone, you can download the launcher and start mining straight away!
Minecraft Mod Worlds lets you build mods as you play with the help of our handy coding tutorials, and we’ve also developed unique worlds for you to explore. Want to travel on your very own flying carpet? How about spawning pandas everywhere you walk? These are just some of the mods available for you to build!
I’m a new coder, will I be able to build mods too?
Absolutely!
The best place to start is in OP Land where you can interact with NPCs who will give you coding quests. Every quest has an “easy code” option where we’ll build part of the code for you, this allows you to get comfortable at your own pace with smaller chunks of code.

I’ve explored OP Land, what next?
OP Land isn’t the only place you can build mods! We’ve also given you a useful little item known as The Code Phone. The Code Phone can be found in your inventory and is full of a whole library of mods that you can build at any time.
Ran out of time to build shelter in survival mode? Just open up The Code Phone, build the treehouse mod, and stay out of reach of those annoying Creepers!

We run coding clubs for children aged 6 to 16, so the guides here are written by the mentors who teach them rather than by a marketing team. Live online clubs are open to children anywhere in the UK, and our in-person clubs run across Essex, Hertfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Suffolk.
A live club is one hour a week, in a group of no more than six, with the same DBS-checked, STEM-certified mentor.
Children build their own games rather than working through a set course, starting in Scratch or MakeCode and moving to Python and TypeScript when they are ready. More than a third of our members are autistic or have ADHD, based on what parents tell us when they join.
Mentors write a note on every child after every session, which is how we know when somebody is ready to move up a level or would rather stay where they are. Levels move down as readily as up. Nothing is forced, and staying put is a perfectly good outcome.
In 2026 we were ranked second in the UK in Club Hub UK’s Top 100 Children’s Activity Providers, scored by five independent judges on safeguarding, inclusivity and community impact, and in 2025 we received the Autism Inclusion Award from the National Autistic Society. Over 1,000 children are enrolled.
