What you are actually paying for
The honest answer is a person. Every platform a child can learn on is free or nearly free, and several of them are very good. What none of them do is notice that a child has gone quiet, or that they have rebuilt the same game four weeks running because they are avoiding something harder.
That is what a mentor does, and it is most of the difference between a child who codes for a term and a child still coding three years later.
Game Dev Club at £65 a month buys an hour a week in a group of no more than six, with the same DBS-checked, STEM-certified mentor every week, plus Minecraft Mod Club and our own platform. Game Dev Academy at £25 is the self-paced version with mentor support by message. Game Dev Advanced at £85 covers Python and TypeScript for ages 10 and up.
Why you can believe the small group number
Six is a cap, not an average, and it is the thing most providers will not commit to in writing. In 2026 we were ranked second in the UK in Club Hub UK’s Top 100 Children’s Activity Providers, scored by five independent judges on safeguarding, inclusivity and community impact.
In 2025 we received the Autism Inclusion Award from the National Autistic Society, and more than a third of our members are autistic or have ADHD based on what parents tell us when they join.
Over 1,000 children are enrolled. The first session is free, we do not ask for card details, and you can cancel any time with 30 days’ notice.
